Registration for 2011 Teen Pregnancy Institute is now open
Registration is now open for our 2011 Teen Pregnancy Institute, “Beyond the Politics: Standing with Youth and Young Families in a Time of Controversy.” We’re very excited about the workshop lineup for this year’s conference. Here examples of some of the 35 workshops available:
- Speak Up! Delivering effective advocacy message and training teens to tell their stories
- A strength-based approach: Working with teen parents experiencing homelessness
- Teens and medical care: Confidentiality, privacy and consent
- Successful maternity leaves from school for pregnant and parenting high school girls
- The Snooki Effect: Using MTV’s The Jersey Shore to reach and teach youth and young adults
- Young mothers: Perceptions, exceptions, and definitions of success
- Beyond the pink and blue: Transgender Issues 101
- What a shame! The identification and prevention of sexual stigma in youth
- Birth art for expecting teens
- Working with Latino youth and families
We are proud to announce that the 2011 Leadership Award recipient is Boston City Councillor Ayanna Pressley! This award is given each year to the policymaker who has made the most significant contribution to addressing teen pregnancy issues. Ms. Pressley will be attending the Conference to accept her award.
In order to make the conference more accessible during a time when many service organizations are facing budget cuts, we’ve lowered the registration rates and added a new student fee. This year we’ve also introduced tracks in advocacy and policy, program planning and evaluation, supporting expectant and parenting teens, and adolescent sexual health education and services.
Learn more about the conference, register online, or download the printable brochure. If you have any questions, please email Catherine.
We look forward to seeing you in November!
