National Rates
According to the Guttmacher Institute, the teen pregnancy rate in the United States declined between 1990 and 2000 (the most recent year for which data is available). After a rise in the late 1980s, the national rate peaked at 116.9 pregnancies per 1,000 girls aged 15-19 in 1990. A decade later, the rate decreased by 28% to 83.6 pregnancies per 1,000 women aged 15-19 in 2000. Abortion and birth rates have also declined over the past twenty years.
