Are You Ready- Sexuality Education Certification Course

The Alliance, in partnership with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, is excited to offer an introductory sexuality education certification course. This is a multi-component course in which teachers can earn 20 professional development hours and course certification upon completion of all components.

This introductory course is for educators new to teaching sexuality education, or educators that have not had formal sexuality education training. The goal of this course is to increase participants’ knowledge, confidence and skills to deliver medically accurate sexuality education to students aligned with the Massachusetts Health Education Framework and the National Health Education Standards.

Course Components:

1. Teacher Application, Due January 12, 2011

2. One Day Workshop, February 10, 2011, 8:30-3:30, Shrewsbury, MA- Let’s Get Comfortable

3. Answer, Inc. Online course components: Sexuality ABCs (up to 6 hours) and STD Basics (up to 6 hours)

4. Follow Up Webinar, 2 hours-April 2011, Date TBD by cohort

Educators interested in this opportunity must do the following:

1. Complete Teacher Application online by January 12, 2011

2. Complete the Professional Development Authorization form and Fax it back to Consuela Greene by January 21, 2011 at 617-483-9129

3. Commit to completion of all course components
